Fund raising 2021: although we couldn't organise a face-to-face event this year, the response to our 2021 fund raising to support the work of Victor, Lili and the AO Neemia team in Cobani has been fantastic. We once again comfortably exceeded our target to cover:
Establishing a Winter support fund for clothing, footwear, school supplies and food parcels for children from poor families
Continuing our support for families requiring adult sanitary supplies for bedbound members
Tools and materials for the project teaching boys practical skills such as carpentry
The cost of fuel to keep the Community Centre running over Winter
We are in awe of what the team are able to do in the village. 2020 was a tough year with the impact of Covid but they still managed to undertake much of their work including:
Delivering 5400 meals to the elderly people
Providing materials worth £1200 to the village school and £750 to the local health centre
26 tonnes of coal to help poor families through the freezing Winter, plus Winter clothes and footwear thanks to funds we were able to send to them
3000 Christmas gifts for children
Raw numbers however don’t tell the full story as they also build relationships and share the Gospel with many people. We spoke with Victor & Lili earlier in the year, and their spirits were good in spite of it all: they are a remarkable family.
This means we've been able to contribute to Neemia's extensive Summer programme, which includes: special activities for young children; football training and competitions; educational camps, e.g. science and Lego (!), on top of the regular annual support we send to towards Neemia's ongoing costs and projects (e.g. providing regular meals for old people and the after school children's clubs).
